Wednesday's prep roundup: Air Academy clings to 1-goal win over Pine Creek in girls' lacrosse
Highlights from Wednesday's high school sports scene around the Pikes Peak region.
Air Academy 12, Pine Creek 11
At Pine Creek: Whitney Moran and Reagan Brenenstuhl each scored four goals to help Pikes Peak region No. 1 Air Academy (7-2, 4-0 Southern League) hold on and beat Pine Creek (6-4, 1-2), tied for third in the Pikes Peak region, in a key league battle.
The Kadets stayed in first place in league, a half game in front of Cheyenne Mountain, which is also unbeaten in the Southern League.
Kennedy Jamieson added two goals for the Kadets.
Madeleine Bourgois scored three goals for the Eagles, while four others added two each.
Cheyenne Mountain 19, Rampart 5
At Rampart: Nicole Beaulieu scored four goals, and Jolie Gilbreth and Madelyn Lewis each notched hat tricks to lead Cheyenne Mountain (7-2, 3-0 Southern League), tied for third in this week's Pikes Peak region rankings, past Rampart (2-7, 2-1).
It was Beaulieu's "best game of the season," Indians coach Marc Luckett said.
Lewis also had two assists and Gilbreth one.
The Indians led 11-3 at the half.
Palmer 17, Pueblo West 9
At Garry Berry: Palmer (1-8, 1-3 Southern) notched its first win of the season, beating Pueblo West (2-6, 0-3).
Regan Olson scored six goals and added two assists, while teammates Annika Furman and Maya Marquez-Garcia each had three goals and an assist.
Cheyenne Mountain 6, Valor Christian 1
At Cheyenne Mountain: Cheyenne Mountain handed Valor Christian its first dual loss of the season as the Indians won every match but No. 1 singles, and even that one went three sets.
Cory Patton Lossner cruised in her No. 2 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while teammate Claire Dibble won her No. 3 singles match 6-1, 6-3.
Morgan Hall opened her No. 1 singles match with a 6-2 win in the first set, but dropped the next two 6-3, 6-3.
Doherty 5, Pueblo South 2
At Doherty: Doherty won all four doubles matches and Jordan Degani won her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-1 to help the Spartans defeat Pueblo South.
No. 1 doubles Rita Rochelle and Eva Licht won a close one for Doherty, taking their match in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (4).
Air Academy 11, Huntington Beach 3
At Air Academy: Pikes Peak region No. 3 Air Academy (6-4) cruised past Huntington Beach (Calif.) (8-10) in an interstate match.
The Kadets led 7-1 at the half.

Lewis-Palmer 19, Bear Creek 0
At Bear Creek: Pikes Peak region No. 1 Lewis-Palmer (9-1, 4-0 Jeffco League) blew out Bear Creek (0-9, 0-2).

Woodland Park 14, Manitou Springs 4, 6 innings
At Woodland Park: Class 4A Woodland Park (8-7) handed Pikes Peak region 3A and below No. 1 Manitou Springs (9-2) just its second loss.
The Panthers scored five runs in the second and sixth innings, ending the game early due to the 10-run rule.
Sean Whalen went 2 for 3 with two runs batted in for the 3A Mustangs.
Woodland Park did not report stats.
Peyton 17, Dolores Huerta 0, 5 innings
At Peyton: Peyton made it clear who the leader is in 2A District 8.
The Pikes Peak region 3A and below No. 2 Panthers (13-0, 5-0 2A District 8) blasted Dolores Huerta (9-3, 4-2), which entered the game a half game behind the Panthers.
Peyton scored 14 runs in the third inning and added three more in the fourth to run away with the game.
The Panthers pounded out 11 hits and took eight walks.
Jaeden Meyers doubled, drove in three and scored twice. Rupert Shaw, Caleb Yutzy, Josh Gonzales and Garhett Shaw each drove in two runs.
Rodney Gregg struck out 10 in a five-inning complete game. He gave up four hits and one walk.
Faith Christian 10, CSCS 0, 5 innings
At Faith Christian: Faith Christian (6-5) held Colorado Springs Christian School (1-11) to two hits in a five-inning win over the Lions due to the 10-run rule.
The Eagles scored six runs in the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead, then added three more over the last two innings to end the game.
Manitou Springs 6, Colorado Springs School 1
At Manitou Springs: Bridget Bodor scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead 3A Manitou Springs (9-1) past 2A Colorado Springs School (2-4).
The Mustangs, ranked No. 1 in this week's Pikes Peak region 3A/2A rankings, grabbed a 4-1 lead before the half.
Brooklyn Mack and Caileen Sienchnect each had a goal and assist.
