Colorado Springs actress Gina Scalzi won the “best supporting actress” award from the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival this month. Scalzi co-starred in David Sutton’s film “The Shadow Game,” a suspense comedy filmed in early 2004 in Breckenridge. Scalzi plays an elderly woman’s caretaker competing against the woman’s family in a game to determine who will inherit her estate. “The premise is really funny and interesting and intriguing,” Scalzi said. “It’s a very sweet movie.” The film was screened in October in Hollywood — despite its name, the New York International Independent Film Festival holds screenings at several locations during the year — and the awards were announced Jan. 7.
