Free ice cream on first day of spring around Colorado Springs
What would the first day of spring be without ice cream?
That's the question driving local ice cream shops as they mark the season change with free ice cream deals Monday. And with sunny skies and a high of 77 degrees in the forecast, the time is right:
- Dairy Queen and DQ Grill and Chill are offering small vanilla cones on "Free Cone Day." Cones are limited to one per customer.
- Rita's Italian Ice is kicking off its second season in Colorado Springs by giving away free regular Italian ice from noon to 9 p.m. at 7866 N. Academy Blvd. They'll also be revealing three new flavors, including Peeps, Twizzlers and birch beer. Festivities also include face painting, music and a photo booth.
- Josh and John's Ice Cream locations are offering 5 punches on their Ice Creamometer cards for each ice cream purchased, excluding kiddie scoops. Card holders with 15 punches earn a free regular scoop of ice cream.
