A 28-year-old Texas man driving a Nissan Altima died Thursday morning in a head-on crash with a semi on Colorado 115 at Turkey Creek Road, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The Nissan was traveling south on Colorado 115 about 10:35 a.m. when the driver lost control and swerved into the northbound lane, colliding with the truck, the State Patrol said.

The Nissan driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The truck driver, Benjamin Flanagan, 44, of Colorado Springs, was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt.

The truck was carrying diesel tanks, some of which spilled onto the highway after the crash.

"A hazmat team is on scene making sure anything that spilled is taken care of, and anything that didn't won't when the semi is towed," said Sgt. Rob Madden.

Neither speed nor alcohol or drugs are considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
