Two arrested in slaying of man whose body was found in abandoned building in Peyton
Authorities arrested two men Thursday in the killing of a 23-year-old man whose body was found nearly two weeks ago in El Paso County.
Anthony Loya, 25, and Jorge Galvan-Flores, 34, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said. Galvan-Flores was also arrested on suspicion of possession of weapons by a previous offender.
Lawrence D. Gloster II, 23, who had moved to Colorado Springs about a year ago from Florida, was found dead April 8 in an abandoned building on the 21800 block of East U.S. 24 in Peyton.
On April 13, Loya was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon and violation of a protection order, court records show. He appears to have posted $1,000 bond on April 14.
Galvan-Flores is a registered sex offender with a history of failing to register, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's database. He pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault of a child in 2004.
In 2014, Galvan-Flores was sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender after changing an address, establishing an additional residence or legally changing names, court records show. He was also sentenced in 2014 to 18 months in prison for aggravated motor vehicle theft, court records show.
In 2006, Galvan-Flores was sentenced to a year in prison for attempting to escape from a pending felony, court records show.
Loya and Galvan-Flores remain in the El Paso County jail without bond.
