Palmer High student council members face punishment after being caught drinking during overnight retreat
Eleven Palmer High School Student Council members face punishment after they reportedly brought alcohol to an overnight retreat Friday.
School officials are still investigating how the teens were able to sneak in the alcohol, District 11 spokeswoman Devra Ashby said. They were caught drinking sometime that evening, she said.
The overnight retreat is meant to be an annual bonding event for the council members, Ashby said. She did not know how many students attended the event.
Now, "the lock-in is not taking place in the future," Ashby said.
Three teachers were chaperoning the event, Ashby said.
Ashby declined to elaborate on what punishment the students face, citing student privacy rights.
