The 2017 Cadillac XT5 AWD is a solid, smooth, luxury SUV that’s effortless to drive. From the remote start and passive entry to the 3.6 liter V6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission to the heated steering wheel and ultra-view panoramic sunroof to the cutting-edge, intuitive infotainment system, this no-frills vehicle is full of power and comfort. “The XT5 presents a high value proposition, as it is a better value than many of its competitors but similarly equipped,” said Drew Mau, Sales and Leasing Consultant at Red Noland Cadillac, Colorado Springs.

While the last generation of the vehicle was a bit smaller, the 2017 has a lengthened wheel base – making for a super smooth ride and the most leg room of any vehicle in its class. The driver and passenger seats have three-stage memory foam that conforms to the body – with the driver side having an eight-way power seat adjuster and the passenger side having two-way power lumbar control. The back seats can slide 5.5 inches forward or back, and have six recline settings. All of the seats are heated, and there is tri-zone automatic climate control, lending even more comfort.

I grew up with Cadillacs in my family, so settling into the vehicle’s classic elegance instantly made me me feel nostalgic; but at the same time delighted me with its leading-edge features. The infotainment system is highly intuitive and minimalistic, but is equipped with everything you can possibly need; and its upgraded processor creates a near-instant response time.

The natural voice recognition commands allow for simple access to directions, hands-free calls and texts, and music (Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM, music player). The touchscreen affords multi-touch navigation and is equipped with weather and traffic updates. The vehicle can also act as a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a small monthly fee can accommodate up to seven devices with unlimited data. USB ports in a spacious middle compartment allow for easy phone charging when you’re on-the-go – a great benefit for professionals who often use their vehicle as an office.

As I started to drive I was thrilled by how smooth and nimble the car was. While it’s not the lightest car out there, it was not sluggish at all – and the eight-speed automatic transmission made for seamless shifts. I liked how the AWD can be turned off to save fuel. Another value proposition is that since the car is naturally aspirated, it can take regular fuel rather than premium, saving you money time and time again. “This car has an adaptive suspension system so it won’t tip or roll and is a very solid ride,” said Mau. I got to see this first hand as I drove through windy, hilly roads and felt completely stable and safe.

Some safety features of the Cadillac XT5 include low-speed interventional auto breaking, lane-keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and rear child security. The car has a full range of sensors from front to back, as well as a rear-vision camera. These safety measures made me feel confident and protected on the road.

“This vehicle attracts a wide range of clientele,” said Mau. “From families transporting kids to their games, to Denver commuters needing a comfortable and spacious ride, to people looking for the perfect height car to comfortably enter and exit, the XT5 really is popular for people of all ages.” For anyone looking for a reliable vehicle with space, comfort, tech and sophistication from the inside-out, this vehicle will not disappoint.
